Accessibility statement

We're committed to reducing the barriers experienced by people with disabilities.

We are constantly working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website and work to many of the available standards and guidelines. By following these guidelines, we are striving to create a Level AA website based on the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make websites more accessible and usable, which means everyone will find our website easier to use.

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. This means our website should display properly in current browsers and means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

We are aware, however, that we do make mistakes. If you find any of our pages inaccessible, please contact us.

Accessibility and Translation software

Our website has accessibility and translation software available from the 'Accessibility tools' link at the top of each page. If you click on this link a Recite Me toolbar will appear which allows you to have the website content spoken to you, as well as being able to change the font size, font and background colours, plus translating the website to another language.

We've put together some instructions for using the ReciteMe toolbar here

Downloading documents

Where possible we try to provide documents to download in a PDF format.

If you have difficulties reading a PDF, please visit Adobe's Accessibility Resource Centre. Adobe provides useful information for users with a disability.

If you need a document download in a different language, on tape or CD, in large print or Braille, please let us know. We can also arrange for an interpreter so that you can speak to us in your own language.

Getting the most from the web

You can find useful information on getting the most from the web - such as how to make changes to your browser - by visiting the BBC My Web My Way website.
